Energy Tax Credits for Metal Roofing Purchases

Consumers who purchase and install quality metal roofs can receive a tax credit savings up to $500.00, for the time period of January 1, 2006, through December 31, 2007. According to the Energy Policy Act of 2005, homeowners can receive a tax credit if they make or install qualified energy-efficient improvements to their existing home. The policy defines roofing improvement as a metal roof that has a suitable pigmented coating that meet all requirements of the Energy Star program. For low-sloping roofing systems that are Energy Star labeled must have a minimal 65% solar reflectance. For steep-sloping roofing systems that are Energy Star labeled, must have at least 25% solar reflectance.
