Energy Tax Credits for Metal Roofing Purchases

Consumers who purchase and install quality metal roofs can receive a tax credit savings up to $500.00, for the time period of January 1, 2006, through December 31, 2007. This is in accordance of the Congress' Energy Policy Act of 2005. For more information on the Energy Policy Act of 2005, please visit their website: www.energy.gov/taxbreaks.htm

According to the Energy Policy Act of 2005, homeowners can receive a tax credit if they make or install qualified energy-efficient improvements to their existing home. The policy defines roofing improvement as a metal roof that has a suitable pigmented coating that meet all requirements of the Energy Star program. For low-sloping roofing systems that are Energy Star labeled must have a minimal 65% solar reflectance. For steep-sloping roofing systems that are Energy Star labeled, must have at least 25% solar reflectance.
